On July 28th the awesome staff at 4quartersonline.com welcomed in the 2015 football season with a very
classy media day event at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Tallahassee. Twenty-four teams from the Big
Bend area where invited including powerhouse schools such as Godby, Lincoln and Wakulla. Smaller
schools like West Gadsden and Maclay were also in attendance. The event was kicked-off with some
genuine words of encouragement from former North Florida Christian star Ernie Sims, whom also
excelled at F.S.U. before going on to have a nice pro career with the Detroit Lions. Sims told the young
men that it was important for them to compete on the field and in the game of life. “If you don’t know
how to compete you won’t be successful.”

Regardless of how last season may have played out for them each coach displayed an extreme level of
confidence and optimism when they spoke and answered questions in regards to the upcoming season.

As opposed to boasting about their skill position players it was refreshing to hear several coaches
expressed the importance of being dominant at the line of scrimmage. It was also great to hear Maclay
head coach Kyler Hall, speak on his expectations for his players off the field. “Aside from football I want
to see these guys become responsible men, husbands, and fathers.”

Marauder head coach Kyler Hall (also a former FSU standout) talked about character values that extend outside of football.

Three players decided to use the media day event as platform to announce their decisions as to where
they will be playing on the collegiate level. FAMU High standout Chris Jackson led the commitments with his announcement to play for Marshall, while Leon High running back Sam Thomas committed to Kent
State, and Florida High’s Isiah Hill will take his talent to Florida International University as a free safety.
All and all the media day was a huge success and a great introduction to the upcoming season.
