Liberty County converted the only fumble of the game into a touchdown that proved to be the game winner as they defeated Bozeman 13-10 in Bozeman’s homecoming game.

The fumble by Jacob Martinez came as he tried to fair catch a Liberty County punt at his own twelve yard line. Liberty need just two plays to convert the mistake into a touchdown on a run by Terryal Jenkins from eight yards out.

The game ended on a bizarre play. As time was running down the Bucks completed a pass to the Bulldog 29 yard line. Facing fourth and three Bozeman rushed to the line in an attempt to either spike the ball or run one last play. The snap appeared to come as the ball was blown in play and both teams stopped upon hearing the whistle that actually signaled the ball was ready for play until Liberty’s Matt Bodiford stepped forward to sack the Buck quarterback. After  discussion with the Bucks coaching staff the officials left the field and the game was complete.

The second half was dominated by both defenses as Liberty, 6-1 overall, was held to fifty yards second half yards and Bozeman, 2-4 overall, managed eighty yards of offense. In the game Bozeman’s offense out produced the Bulldogs 248 yards to 158 yards.  Neither team managed to get inside their opponents twenty yard line in the second half as both defenses rose to the occasion finding ways to come up with big plays at keys points in the game.

Liberty went three and out on their first possession and Bozeman responded with a 75 yard, seven play drive to take a 7-0 lead. The Bucks scored on quarterback Jacob Martinez’s run for 22 yards with 7:06 remaining in the first quarter. The Bulldogs then put together a thirteen play drive capped by a Harold Armstrong 21 yard run up the middle for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was wide and Bozeman held a 7-6 lead.

Six plays later Bozeman scored a 31 yard field goal to take a 10-6 lead that held until the fumbled punt mid-way through the second quarter.

On October 21 Liberty travels to take on Blountstown and Bozeman travels to Chipley in key district match-ups for both teams.
