He is the school’s first football signee and He also holds every rushing record in the, albeit short, history of Maclay football. And yet Lee Williams had only finished 5 complete games in the 2011 season. Known for his amazing speed on the track as well as the 2,000 plus yards he notched on the football field, Lee Williams alongside his parents, put on a green Florida A&M cap which served as an exclamation point to a stellar high school athletic career. “Lee is a tremendous young man.”, Exclaimed Maclay Marauder head coach Kyler Hall. “He’s a four year varsity letterman and hes always set an example for his teammates. He always gives his offensive linemen the credit. He’s a very humble young man and a leader.”

Despite his humility, Williams has stood out from others both on an off the field. Many within the Maclay community raved about the FAMU bound student-athlete with his dedication to academics and his hard work on the track and football field. Maclay Track Coach spoke about Lee’s work ethic and progression over the past few years. “He’s had a steady improvement. If you take a look at his marks as a junior in each of his events, He would have placed in the top 3 or 4 spots at the college level for his conference.”

Last season when the Marauders took on FAMU High in an early contest, Williams had a preview of what it would be like to use his talents at Bragg Stadium and now Williams will not only get a chance to play football but he’ll also have the opportunity to continue his success on the track. “It’s the one school I feel very comfortable with and they’ve been behind me in the recruiting process the whole time.”, Said Williams when asked about his decision to attend FAMU and play two sports. Williams went on to say, “If I play football I have to do track and if I run track I have to play football… One without the other to me just feels empty.” Coach Hall, a former safety at Florida State advised Williams throughout the process. “I told Lee to go where his heart tells him to go… He’s close to home and now we’ll get to watch him.”
