Springtime. Football, fresh air, warmer weather and… thunderstorms. While a few flashes lightning may have delayed or cancelled a few local area games, there was still plenty of football to go around.

At Gene Cox Stadium the Lincoln Trojans made the most of a lightning delay and overcame a 14-6 deficit to beat visiting Gainesville Buchholz 24-21. With just 10 seconds left to play the Trojans found the end-zone to claim the come from behind victory.

The Chiles Timberwolves will ride a wave of momentum heading into the summer with the varsity team earning a dominating 26-3 win over Florida High. After jumping out to a 10-3 lead the Timberwolves went into overdrive lead by big punt return from Kris Reed who would later add another receiving score. A rushing scores by Shane Sanders, Cody Risalvato and a pair of field goals by Jake Meyer gave the Timberwolves defense plenty to work with as they soffocated the Seminoles holding them to a lone field goal. For Chiles head coach Garrett Jhan the victory was to be expected. “The motto this spring has been to finish and get better as we go,” said Jhan. “We’ve approached workouts like that and practices like that.”

Leon annual Red & White Game rounds out spring practices for the Lions. With a certain number of series for each squad that saw a defined number of running and passing plays, the White team beat the Red team with a solid effort.
