While many schools in the Big-Bend area have ended their seasons and their respective athletes have moved their focus on to other sports, it was “Business As Usual” for the Lincoln Trojans on at typical Tuesday afternoon practice. Lincoln makes a much welcomed return to the regional championship after making an unexpected first-round exit in 2011. “The kids have really willed us to get to this point and they’ve worked very hard.”, said head coach Yusuf Shakir. “This time of year, (The next two rounds) will come down to who wants it the most, who makes the fewest mistakes and who’s willing to do the little things that make a difference.” Lincoln brings back a handful of seniors who were apart of the 2010 championship team and their experience will be needed for a third trip to Orlando in 5 seasons. Watch our interview with Shakir, and listen to his thoughts on his team and their preparation for the regional final.
