The Leon Lions took a early lead but had to hold on to the end to secure a runner-up place in 7A district 1. Going into the second quarter, Leon held a 13-0 lead and looked to have the makings of an easy night.

The Timberwolves woke up  when defensive back Shane Sandes made the play of the year by returning an interception; maneuvering in and out of the Lion players, thereby, scoring Chiles first touchdown of the night. That was the beginning of fireworks for the Timberwolves on the night with  a blocked punt by Enrique Dickey which set  them up at the Lion’s 27 yard line. Avery Thomas then connected with Sr. Wideout,  Curtis Hatch for a 15 yard touchdown pass sending them to halftime with a 14-13 lead.

The Lions were not to be denied. They retook the lead with 38 seconds to go in the 3rd quarter with a 15 yard touchdown run by senior running back James Peterson. The Lion offense was not satisfied with a 7 point lead; surprising the Timberwolves with a 61 yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Tyhran Glasco. to slot back Queze Britton with 10:50 left in the 4th quarter.

Chiles knew their season was on the Lions and they played like it, scoring on another Thomas touchdown pass  and nearly tying the game with 35 seconds left in the game  when a 30 yard touchdown pass was call back for holding backing them up to the 40 yard line and ending with an errant pass that end the game with an interception. The Lions will  travel to Jacksonville November 11 to face Lee.
