Let the celebration begin at Boot Hill! The Cowboys defeated the upstart Blountstown Tigers 35-20 in front of nearly 3,500 fans at Camping World Stadium to claim their first state championship in 10 years. For Madison County head coach Mike Coe, the last two trips to Orlando ended in heartbreak.

In fact, the Cowboys last 6 appearances in the state playoffs have seen them make an early exit with with some of the most talent laden teams in the big-bend. After trailing early in the ball game 14-7, the Cowboys defense stepped up big in the 2nd half and Teryon Henderson added 207 yards rushing to give Madison the 1A crown.

“It’s just the resilience of this team!”, said Cowboys head coach Mike Coe. “They just battled until the very end”.

Blountstown came into the title game with a bit of a chip on their shoulders after
hearing they were a big underdog and it was the Tigers who struck first on a 13 yard Touchdown pass from Tim Peacock to Jamal Howard. The Tigers moved the ball seemingly at will in the first half.

The 2nd half began with a couple of unsettling offensive series by the Tigers resulting with a
couple turnovers. The Cowboys scored the only points of the quarter on a one yard run by Teryon
Henderson to make it 21-17 Madison.

In the fourth, The Cowboys took control and opened with a bang after recovering a fumble by the Tigers, on the ensuing drive Running Back Teryon Henderson bolted 67 yards to expand the Cowboys lead to 28-17. Blountstown refused to go away as the Tigers added another 40 yard field goal to make the score 28-20 early into the final period.
