On a rain soaked Friday night the NFC Eagles played host to the Taylor County Bulldogs in the final tuneup before summer workouts. Under new head coach Steve Price, the Eagles quickly jumped out to a 7-0 lead early behind a big interception return.

Later in the first quarter Taylor County capitalized on a turnover to set up a score of their own. Later, senior RB Willie Elder scored from 8 yards out to give the Bulldogs a permanent lead. NFC found themselves with another scoring opportunity but were unable to take advantage.

The East Gadsden Jaguars gave the Jefferson County Tigers all they could handle in a dominating 30-7 victory. Rainy weather didn’t stop either team from running an array of offensive plays. The Tigers who are now under head coach Blair Armstrong took away some positives in the defeat. “Defensively I thought we did really well,” said Armstrong. “We made some mistakes, but we’re not afraid to hit.”

In his second year of his second stint at East Gadsden, head coach Corey Fuller was pleased with the way his team performed. “I think the kids did well. They bought into what we’ve been talking about and we tried to keep it real simple,” said Fuller. “This was actually our first time tackling, we’ve not been in full pads a single day this spring. I wanted to see them fly to the ball… The aggression part was what I was looking for and they displayed it.”
