Lincoln falls to Madison County, 27 -13 in mistake filled ballgame

The Lincoln Trojans were their on worst enemy Thursday night falling to an undefeated Madison County Cowboy team. The Cowboys jumped out to an early (19-0) lead, directed by quarterback #8 Kelvin Singletary and the power running of fullback #9 Tommy Young. Madison County defenders dominated the Trojans all over the field and were lead by linebacker #7 LePardre Stevens and and defensive back #20 Marty McDaniels. With an intense pass rush and tight man-to-man coverage the Cowboys forced the Trojans to throw 4 interceptions.

Later in the second half, Lincoln seemed to be a different ball club by slowing down the Cowboy ground game and forcing 2 turnovers and several penalties. Late in third quarter the Trojans seem to catch fire when Cowboy quarterback Kelvin Singletary was sacked and fell hard on his lower leg. Singletary ended up leaving the game and didn’t return. On Lincoln’s next two posessions the they scored twice making the score 19-13 The spark that would get Lincoln close to the Madison County lead would end as quickly as it began. Lead by freshman QB #14 Kendle Randolph, the Cowboy’s ground attack helped them to hold on to the lead and seal their 7th win on the season with a 27-13 victory.

FINAL SCORE: LINCOLN 13 – MADISON 27
