Part II Tim Carter Former Tallahassee Prep Star

While At Tulane, Tim was a 4 year letterman in football and track and garnered all conference Honors in both sports. This past year he was inducted into the Tulane football Hall of Fame. He received his bachelors degree in Social Science from Tulane and a masters degree in Exercise Science from East Carolina University.

Though football was not his first love he did it so well that the NFL came a calling, Carter had stints in New Orleans and San Francisco and played in the World League. He also help lead the Berlin Thunder to the 2002 World League Championship title. Tim finished his professional career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian league in 2003.

Tim says “Memories of my high school coaches, coach Williams (Willie Williams, Track/Football), coach Bell (Rickey Bell, Football) and coach Vinny Gill (soccer) taught me patience, how to competing and treat people fair”. He tries to use the things he learned from his coaches in his profession and life . “My high school coaches were very important to me; they were like my family” said Carter. He seems to have the cool laid back approach with an even temperament in dealing with players and coaches. Tim remembers the long hours he put in as an athlete.

Part 1 Tim Carter Former Tallahassee Prep Star

The city of Tallahassee has produced some outstanding prep athletes and Tim Carter, recruiting coordinator for the Eastern Michigan University Eagle, was one of the very best. He is a 1996 graduate of James S. Rickards High. Carter join the staff of newly appointed Head Coach Ron English this past winter along with younger brother Antonio Carter who also is a Rickards grad. In between recruiting visits, Tim sat down and talk to 4quartersonline about some of his accomplishments and people who influenced his athletic career.

At Rickards, Tim was All-State in Football, Track and Soccer. He also received an honorable mention prep All-American in track and Soccer. Tim stated ” I was cut from the 9th grade basketball team that really hurt so I concentrated on track and soccer”. As good as he was in track and soccer, Tim excelled in football, as a freshman quarterback on a not so good team ” I got killed out there in my last game on JV and I wondered if I really wanted to play” said Carter. Instead, he did play football and earned a football scholarship to the University of Tulane.
