Reporter: Mr Bill Jablon, Headmaster Maclay School
Tallahassee, Florida – March 18, 2011 – Former Florida State standout and current Leon High School assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Kyler Hall has been hired as the new head football coach at Maclay School. Hall was hired today after an extensive search and evaluation process by the school. Kyler Hall will assume the duties of head coach immediately, and will begin preparations for 2011 spring practice and the 2011 season.
“We are excited to have Coach Hall here at Maclay, I think he will bring a lot of energy to our young program” said Bill Jablon, Headmaster at Maclay School. “Coach Hall has all of the assets we were looking for in a head coach, and comes highly recommended. We hope to enjoy a lot of success with Kyler heading up our program. I think our kids will really like him.”
Kyler Hall is from Live Oak, Florida, where he graduated from Suwannee High School and was the Florida Class 3A Player of the Year in 2001. He played at Florida State University as a defensive back from 2001 through 2005, and was an outstanding player and student athlete. Hall joined the coaching staff at Leon High School in 2007 as a special teams coordinator and secondary coach, and quickly rose to the defensive coordinator/assistant head coach position by 2009. Hall enjoyed success at Leon as the defensive coordinator, going to the playoffs in 2008 and 2009 and had a combined record of 19 -13 through the 2010 season. His defense held Leon county rival schools to 15 points or less in 2010.
“I’m looking forward to being the head coach at Maclay, it is a great opportunity for me and my family.” said Hall. “I am excited about getting to work right away, getting to know the kids, and helping Maclay become very successful with our Football program. I feel that my background with Florida State and my local connections here in Tallahassee are going to give me a leg up and bring some great resources over here to Maclay.”
