4Q 2011 Spring Preview: Godby Cougars

godby_helmetOn a typical May afternoon in Tallahassee, temperatures can reach into the mid 90′s. With the weather being this hot the Godby Cougars took to this years spring practices looking to turn up the heat on their opponents this fall. “Anytime you get a chance to put the pads on and smell the grass, you’re always gonna have some fun…” said Godby assistant Head Coach Cleon MacFarlane. “We’ve speed things up a bit in practice and have given them more of a tempo so the kids are definitely excited about that.”

There was a strong showing of support at the annual Blue and White Game at Godby High School last Friday. A defensively physical game, the Cougars showed why they could be a dominant force in class 5A later this fall. Head Coach Ronnie Cottrell spoke about the teams improvement. “We’ve had a successful off-season and we’re better because of the carry over from last year. We have a lot of seniors coming back and they’ve put in a lot of effort with our strength coach working on agility and quickness.”
