4Q Signing Day 2011: Leon’s Geoff Strickland signs with Sewanee

Leon added another member to the long list of 2011 area collegiate signees yesterday as defensive back and two-year varsity letterman Geoff Strickland committed to play football at Sewanee the University of the South in Leon’s famed Red & White Room. As head football coach Bill Regans addressed the large crowd of family and friends he stated that “This is a big occaision for Geoff and his family… It’s quite an accomplishment.”

Among Geoff’s family were his father, mother, grandmother and grandfather. Geoff’s dad Gene Strickland was elated with his son’s decision to play at Sewanee University which is located in Tennessee. “I feel fantastic!” Said Gene Strickland, father of Geoff. “It’s an academic package to play division III football and it’s a huge relief to see him (Geoff) go to a school of that caliber that he wants to go to.”
