4Q GAMENIGHT: Florida High vs. FAMU High
In 2009 Florida High saw the absence of a few key players due to injury that would have perhaps had a huge impact on their season. In the Seminoles week 1 match-up against crosstown rival FAMU High, the “impact” returned in a big way as Florida High posted 34 first half points on their way to a 48-6 win.
Seminole RB #10 K. Farmer had a stellar performance while racking up 3 touchdowns and 56 yards rushing. Farmer’s efforts were matched by QB #12 D. Harvey and RB K. Lewis. Both players rushed for over 100 yards each to power the Florida High offense. The Baby Rattlers lone score came on a 56 yard pass from QB #9 J. Jones to WR #4 C. McWhite.

Florida High pleased with spring football win
DEMOCRAT STAFF REPORT • May 23, 2010
Florida High used a stifling defense and a consistent offense to win it’s football spring game over West Gadsden 34-0 on Friday night. Senior quarterback Dewayne Harvey completed 16-of-23 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 30 yards on four carries.
“He really led the way for us, in the air and on the ground,” Florida High coach Jarrod Hickman said.
Both of Harvey’s touchdown passes came in the second half when the Seminoles blew the game wide open.
Senior Nolan Norton scored on runs of 5 and 10 yards in the first half as Florida High took a 13-0 lead into halftime.
Seniors Jordan Jackson and Rodney Trammell led Florida High’s tough defense. Jackson had three tackles for loss and a sack. Trammell led the team with seven tackles.
“Anytime you pitch a shutout you’re doing something well,” Hickman said. “We gave up a few plays but got the stops when we needed to.”
Hickman called it an ideal showing for his team heading into the summer.
“It’s a great step for us,” he said. “We weren’t perfect, but we did a lot of good things and executed. We definitely have some things to fix, but we also have some things to build on.”

Tallahassee represented in FACA all-star game
Will Brown • Prep Notebook • December 18, 2009
Earlier this week our section planned to run a few words about Jefferson County’s David Crumity being one of the local

Leon Head Coach Bill Ragans
athletes who will play in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association North-South Football All-Star Classic. It sounded like a good plan until we realized that Crumity was just one of six local athletes that will play in the Dec. 22 game down in Sebring. North Florida Christian’s Clint Trickett will be a quarterback on this team. He will be accompanied by Leon’s Brandon Graham, Godby’s Chris St. Hilaire, Rickards’ Brandon Denmark and Florida High’s Chase Varnadore.
Leon coach Bill Ragans has coached against all those athletes with the exception of Crumity. Ragans will be among the five assistants on the North team that includes some of the best athletes from Melbourne to Pensacola. “There are a couple kids like Trickett and Jericho Lee and Chris St. Hilaire — I would be glad to have those kids on my team for a change instead of blocking them or keeping them from getting open.”

4Q GAMENIGHT: Playoff Central – 2nd Round Matchups and area Scores
It’s round 2 in the state playoffs! Godby and Lincoln have prevailed in their 2nd round games with wins, while Jefferson County and Florida High weren’t so lucky. The Lincoln Trojans capitalized early on Columbia turnovers, to outlast the Tigers, 20-14, and advance to the Class 4A regional championship. Godby’s 4 fumble recoveries against the Baker County Wildcats sealed the 26-19 win and captured the Class 2A region 1 title.

LINCOLN 20 – COLOUMBIA 14 (Final)
FL HIGH 7 – PENSACOLA CATH. 44 (Final)
JEFFERSON CO. 28 – HAWTHORNE 38 (Final)
Things didn’t fair so well for the Jefferson County Tigers, who were having one of the best seasons since their 1991 state title run. The Tigers were bested by a pesky Hawthorne offense who managed to out score Jefferson County, 38 -28. Florida High, meanwhile, was dominated by Pensacola Catholic, who held the Seminoles to just 7 points in a 44-7 loss in Pensacola.

4Quartersonline.com will be in attendance for next weeks games that will feature a pair of heated re-matches. The Lincoln Trojans will host the Class 4A, 3rd round Region 1 championship in Tallahassee against the visiting Niceville Eagles. Lincoln is no stranger to Niceville, as the Trojans faced the Eagles in week 2 of the regular season, with Niceville beating Lincoln 34-41.
The Godby Cougars will have a chance at revenge next friday, when they travel to Cocoa to face the Cocoa Tigers. It will be a re-match of last years Class 3A state title game when these two teams face off, with a trip to Orlando on the line for a spot in this years Class 2A state championship game.

The Trojans managed to grind out a 16 – 6 win over the Seminoles in a very wet and hard-fought game last Thursday night. The soggy turf at Gene Cox Stadium added another hurdle for both squads as plenty of big hits were exchanged.

Florida High 2009 Team Preview
Florida State University High School Mascot: Seminoles
Class 2B District 2
2008 Record 9-1
District 3-0
Head Coach: Jarrod Hickman
Team 2009 Outlook: The ‘Noles are have been a consistent 2b stalwart force in the playoffs, and it shouldn’t be any different this season. The voters really thought highly of this team. With one of the states best kickers in Chase Vandoffs on offense and what looks to be one of the best secondaries in the Tallahassee area, the Noles are poised to win their share of close games. Coach Hickman always has a few surprises up his sleeve. Opponents beware. They could move up the rankings by season’s end.

4Quartersonline Preseason Ranking 10-7

7
7. Florida High (Seminoles) 67pts:
The ‘Noles are have been a consistent 2b stalwart force in the playoffs, and it shouldn’t be any different this season.

8
8. FAMU (Baby Rattler) 59 pts:
The 2009 version of the Baby Rattlers are an interesting group, with the loss of college signees RB Donte Payne (North Carolina A&T, LB Willie Ferrell (FAMU) and Alex Williams (Ole Miss). The Rattlers won’t look the same. The voters felt with 9 returners on offense and 5 on defense, FAMU should be as good or better than last season, despite the losses. With QB Mike Melvin, RB Jordan Stanley, WR Leonard Barrington and OL Ian Howard, the offense should be explosive. The defense will be lead by SS Breil Hill, DE Alex Watson,DT Issac Manning and DT Derrick Holmes.

8
8. Wakulla (War Eagles) 59pts:
The War Eagles were a playoff team, last season, in a tough 3A district. After making the move up to class 4A, the task has gotten a little tougher. Head Coach Scott Klees and his staff have their work cut out for them, by playing the likes of Lincoln and Leon in district 3. The success of the offense will depend on the efforts of OL John Cooper, RB Lorenzo Randolph along with a host of young players who are expected to contribute. On the defensive side of the ball, LB Tyler Schmidt and FS Antonio Kilpatrick will have to take charge.

10
10. West Gadsden (Panthers) 55pts:
At the beginning of the of the 2008 season no one had any idea that Coach Bradwell’s squad was prepared to have a 8-2 season. This year, like last, the verdict is still out. Replacing All-American defensive tackle Gary Brown and QB Antonio Bostic will be tough. This year’s version of the Panthers has our voters somewhere in the middle, thinking if it’s possible or not to repeat the success of last year. Newcomer WR La Rico Dickey and FB Dustin Chason will have to carry an inexperience group this fall.
