Everyday this week we will release our team rankings starting with 18 thru 15.Our staff and 2 guest voters ranked each team in our coverage area. Only two teams received first place votes, each team accumulated points by their ranking. Friday we will release our 1st and 2nd place teams. 15. Aucilla Christian (Warriors) 22pts;
One of the most interesting teams in 1B, Aucilla Christian, has a legitimate chance to make the playoffs. Quarterback Trent Roberts gives the Warriors a chance to upset the district favorites. New Head Coach, Scott Sharinger, former Florida State teammate of Kez McCorvey, looks to have the Warriors headed in the right direction.

16. Maclay ( Marauders) 20pts;
Coach McCorvey has upgraded the schedule and his young football program will be tested in 2009 . They could move up during the season if top players like WR Seth Roberts and RB Aaron McEachin step up on the offensive side of the ball.

17. John Paul II (Panthers) 12pts;
The Panthers are in a tough 1B district and with the addition of Jefferson County, this could make 2009 a long season. If Coach Olesnevich can keep his teams enthusiastic throughout the season, they may have a chance of besting last years record.

18. Munroe Day School 6pts; One of the smaller schools in the region playing football; the Bobcats struggled this spring, loosing both jamboree games.

This district has been dominated by one team, the Baby Rattlers, and 2009 shouldn’t be any different . FAMU High has not lost a district game since joining 1B. The addition of Jefferson County should make second place interesting but the Graceville Tigers should hold on to a second place finish..

District 2 is the largest in division 1B but with Mayo dropping from 1A they are definitely the team to beat. We predict them to win without a loss. Arlington Country Day should easily take second place . Aucilla Christian should vastly improve but Mayo and ACD should be to much for them to handle.

Panthers Much Improve

The Night began with a much improved John Paul II trouncing of Munroe 18 -0 in the 1st quarter. The 2009 version of the Panthers will be lead by junior running back Jack Moyle who also leads the team on defense at linebacker.
Moyle ran off tackle 47 yrds for the opening score then close the
quarter with 34 yard touchdown run. The night did not end as well as it began a short handed Panther’s team playing with only 13 players losing one before the night was over was defeated 20-0 by Auciila Worriors in the 2nd.

The 2009 prep football season is months away but high school players and coaches have already begun preparation. Spring football in the state of Florida is ritual celebrated like no other. The Tallahassee schools will be on full display for the fans to see with jamborees and games officially ending spring practice. Check back with us to get full report and info on all games.
